Bangabandhu’s birthday celebrated in Milan
DHAKA, March 18, 2019 (BSS) – Consulate General of Bangladesh in Milan celebrated the 100 birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day amid great enthusiasm and festivity at the Consulate General hall room.
Expatriates of all walks of life and their children thronged the venue in a great number. The day’s programme started with recitations from the holy Quran, the holy Gita which was followed by Munajat seeking salvation of the departed soul of the Father of the Nation and continued peace and prosperity of the nation.
Then the Consul General, along with the officials of the Consulate General and expatriates, laid floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation.
Messages of President and Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out to the audience.
A documentary named ‘Biography of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’ based on his life and works was screened, which put forward the story of his meteoric rise into a true statesman from the humble beginning as a mere political activist.
A photo exhibition titled ‘Bangabandhu in pictures’ was arranged which represented Bangabandhu’s unflinching courage and dedication in different transitions of Bangladesh’s history.
In the discussion session, a large number of community members paid glowing tributes to Bangabandhu for his lifelong struggle for the emancipation of the Bangalee people.
They also eulogized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her relentless efforts to take Bangladesh into a greater trajectory of development which is now being admired all over the world.
