Bangabandhu’s birthday celebrated in London

DHAKA, March 18, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commission in London today observed the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day in a befitting manner.

Marking the day, a drawing competition and an essay contest on ‘Bangabandhu and Britain’ were arranged for children aged between four and 14 years at the Impression Events Venue in London, said a press release here today.

A large number of Bangladesh-origin British children and juveniles joined the competitions followed by a cultural function.

Speaking on the occasion, Bangladesh High Commissioner in London Saida Muna Tasneem said the high commission arranged the programmes to encourage the children and juveniles to learn about the greatest Bangalee of all times.

She highlighted the greatness, secular and undisputed characteristics of Bangabandhu before the children and juveniles.

Journalist and writer Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury and one of the organizers of Liberation War in London Sultan Mahmud Sharif addressed the function.

At the outset, the high commissioner placed a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in the mission.

Different organisations also paid glowing tributes to the architect of independent Bangladesh on the occasion of his 99th birth anniversary.
