Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary celebrated abroad

DHAKA, March 18, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh missions aboard celebrated the
99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2019 in a befitting manner yesterday
(Sunday).

Elaborate programmes were drawn up to celebrate the birthday of the
architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bengali of all times who
was born at Tungipara in Gopalganj on March 17, 1920, according to messages
received here today.

The day’s programmes included reading out messages of the President, the
Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign
Affairs, placing wreaths at portraits of Bangabandhu, discussions on
Bangabandhu’s life and works, different competitions for children and
cultural functions.

A large number of expatriates, including political leaders and activists,
media representatives and eminent citizens, attended the programmes.

On the occasion, Bangladesh Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands organized
different programmes on Sunday.

The day’s programmes included reading out the messages of President and
Prime Minister, placing wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, organizing
different competitions for children’s and holding discussions.

Addressing the discussion, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Netherlands
H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Belal portrayed Banglabandhu as a visionary and
charismatic leader and highlighted his people-centered, brave and
compassionate leadership. He requested members of the Bangladesh community to
inculcate Bangabandhu’s ideology and principle among young generation.

Later, he distributed prizes among the participants of various
competitions.

Bangladesh Embassy in Paris also celebrated the day through different
programmes in a befitting manner.

Bangladesh Ambassador to France Kazi Imtiaz Hossain inaugurated the day’s
programme by placing wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman.

A special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members who
embraced martyrdom on the fateful night of August 15, 1975.

In the beginning of the function, the messages of the President and Prime
Minister, the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs
were read out.

A cultural programme was held with the participation of a number of
children. This was followed by cutting of a birthday-cake.

Identical programmes were also organized in Bangladeshi mission in Addis
Ababa to celebrate the birthday of founding father of Bangladesh and National
Children’s Day.
