Fire guts 24 commercial establishments in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, March 18, 2019 (BSS) – At least 24 commercial establishments
and nine dwelling houses were gutted in separate fire incidents at
Fatickchari and Chandhanish upazilas of the district in the early hours of
today .
In the first incident, at least nine houses were gutted in a devastating
fire at around 5 am today at Nurul Islam Bari under Chandhonish upazila of
the district.
In the second incidents a total of 24 shops were gutted at Bhujpur sadar
under Bhujpur thana of Mirarsari upazila of the district at around 4.50 am
today.
Jashim Uddin, Assistant Director of Fire Service told BSS that both the
fire originated from an electric short circuit from a shop and a dwelling
house in the areas and quickly engulfed the surrounding shops and houses.
On information six units of fire fighters including two units at
Chandhanish incident from different area of the district fire stations rushed
to the spot and brought the flame under control at around 6 am.
Valuables worth about Taka 12 lakh were gutted in the fire, Abdul
Jobber, owner of a shop claimed.
None was injured in the incident, he added.
