Shakib advises academy players to enjoy cricket

DHAKA, March 16, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan
advised the budding players to enjoy the BCB Academy Cup, a tournament from
which the board picks up potential talented players.

The second edition of the Academy Cup, organized by BCB Game Development
Committee is set to begin on March 18.

The inaugural edition of the tournament was held last year, a successful
venture that prompted BCB to come up with the second edition.

A total of 32 private cricket academy teams including four new academy
teams across the country, split into eight groups, will participate in the
tournament.

“Those who will play here are under 19, so it’s a good platform for them
to show their talent. Thanks to BCB for this initiative,” Shakib said here
today. “There are so many academies in Dhaka, who needs a platform. BCB has
done an excellent job by bringing them under one roof. There are so many
potentials among them, which would give BCB an option to strengthen their
players pipeline.”

“But I would like to advise the players here to enjoy the cricket. They
shouldn’t target something specific. If they enjoy the game and get good
feedback, it will be great for them.”

“If they fail to perform, they should not think that everything will end
for them. If they get success, they also should not think that they have got
everything. They should think it’s just the beginning. I wish success for all
of them,” Shakib said.
