AL takes elaborate programmes on Bangabandhu’s birthday

DHAKA, March 16, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League and its associate and likeminded bodies have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the 100th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day tomorrow in a befitting manner.

The programme includes hoisting of national flag and party flag atop the Bangabandhu Bhaban and all party offices at 6.30am and paying rich tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 here at 7am tomorrow, a press release said today.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with her party colleagues will lay wreaths at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu at Tungipara in Gopalganj at 10am tomorrow and will join a milad and doa mahfil.

Children’s rally, book fair and cultural event will be arranged on the premises of Bangabandhu Mausoleum.

Among the AL central leaders, presidium members Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Kazi Zafar Ullah and Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Faruq Khan and Joint-General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif will join the AL’s programme at Tungipara.

On March 18, a discussion will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on the occasion.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will chair it.
