Rezaul for doing research on Bangabandhu’s 7 March speech

DHAKA, March 14, 2019 (BSS) – Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim today urged all politic parties including BNP and others to do research work on the historic 7 March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“You may belong to BNP, Jatiya Party or other political parties or different opinions . . . but you should do research on Bangabandhu’s 7 March Speech,” the minister told a discussion on the 7 March Speech of Bangabandhu at the Jatiya Press Club here.

Terming the historic speech as a “Magna Carta” for the Bengali nation, he said the 7 March Speech is an important topic of doing research as each of its word had a very significant and far-sighted meaning.

“The directives of Bangabandhu’s speech would inspire the Bengalese to resolve various problems as long as the Bengali nation would exist,” Rezaul added.

The minister was also very critical of BNP and other vested quarters who tried to distort the real history of the country saying, “History cannot be written . . . only the incidents occurred earlier are the history.”

Dhaka University Prof ABM Faruk, the daily Bangladesh Post editor Sharif Shahabuddin, Major General (retd) AK Mohammad Ali Shikder, former ambassador and secretary AKM Atiqur Rahman, director of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital Dr Uttam Barua, former information secretary Nasir Uddin Ahmed, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Quamrul Hasan Khan, Sammillito Sangskritik Jote president Golam Quddus and journalist Ali Habib, among others, took part in the discussion.

Dr Mamun Al- Mahtab Sawpnil presented the keynote paper.
