DHAKA, March 13, 2019 (BSS)-Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is all set to return to competitive cricket with the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as he will play for Abahani Limited in their match against Brother Union tomorrow (Thursday) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The ODI skipper took a vacation following Bangladesh’s three-match one-day International series against New Zealand as he took his family members along with him on a trip outside the country.

He missed Abahani’s first two matches in the DPL but the reigning champions won those two matches to remain top the point table so far.

Mashrafe joined the Abahani training session today at the academy premises to make sure that he is totally prepared for the tournament.

Abahani head coach Khaled Mahmud said Mashrafe is raring to go in DPL and termed the inspirational skipper as ‘Big Factor’ in the side’s aspiration to retain the title.

Even though Mashrafe was not Abahani’s regular skipper in the last season, he was involved with the side as manager cum coach and took all important decision with Mahmud.

“I think DPL is a competitive tournament and Mashrafe is always a competitive guy so it is definitely important for him,” Mahmud said here today. “Mashrafe plays sincerely while he takes part in the game and he is a big factor of Abahani. He is a great guy who leads from the front. The DPL is important for both Mashrafe and Abahani,” he added.

Apart from the match between Abahani and Brothers, Shiekh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will take on Shinepukur Cricket Club at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium. In the day’s other match, Legends of Rupganj will lock horns with Prime Bank Cricket Club at BKSP-3 ground.
