DHAKA, March 11, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said setting up a minority commission as demanded by Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee is just a matter of time.

“The demand for the commission would be raised at the cabinet meeting and it would be fulfilled for sure. It is just a matter of time,” he said at a seminar on the spirit of the Liberation War in Awami League’s election manifesto at the Engineers Institution here this afternoon.

Presided over by Justice Shamsul Huda, the seminar was also addressed, among others, by Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik, Professor Muntassir Mamun and Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee president Shahriar Kabir.

“The demand for forming a minority commission came from the accumulated anger of people as members of the minority communities were oppressed for long after the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They even have not been able to knock the doors of judiciary in the long 21 years,” the law minister said.

He said he would ask prosecution to take necessary steps for quick disposal of cases filed by minority community people, adding, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to build a developed Bangladesh with everyone along, not just with a particular community.”

The minister also told newsmen after the seminar that the proposed act to try Jamaat-e-Islami as a party for its war crimes will be placed in the cabinet meeting soon.
