Body of missing labourer recovered from Buriganga
NARAYANGANJ, Mar 11, 2019 (BSS) – The diver team of Fire Service and Civil
Defence today recovered the body of Satyendranath Sanjay Das (55), who went
missing in a trawler capsize in Buriganga River in Fatullah of Narayanganj
last night.
“The diver team found the capsized trawler at 12 noon today. Later, they
took the trawler on the river bank and recovered the body of Sanjay from
inside of the trawler,” Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil
Defence of Narayanganj zone Abdullah Al Arefin told BSS.
Later, the body of Sanjay, a day labour hailed from Shalla upazila of
Sunamganj district, was handed over to the police, he said.
In-charge (inspector) of Pagla naval police outpost Samsul Islam said the
body already has been handed over to the family members of Sanjay.
Process is underway for taking legal actions against the owner and the
driver of the trawler, he added.
The trawler carrying around 51 people, mostly sand workers, sank in the
river after it collided with a sand-carrying vessel around 9:30 pm yesterday.
