Ctg to be turned into IT hub very soon: Palak

CHATTOGRAM, March 11, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak today said Chattogram will be turned into an IT-based city very soon.

He disclosed this at a function arranged on the occasion of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Chattogram City Corporation and High Tech Park Authority at City Corporation Bhaban.

Post, Telecommunications & Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabbar attended the function as the chief guest, while City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin presided over it.

Managing Director of High Tech Authority Hosne Ara Begum was present on the occasion as the special guest.

Hosne Ara Begum of High Tech Park and the Chief Executive officer of CCC Mohammad Shamsudoha inked the MoU on behalf of the respective sides.

The state minister said Chattogram is now not only a port city but also the commercial capital of the country.

Mentioning that Chattogram City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin allocated lands for IT Park, he hoped this city will be turned into IT hub very shortly.

Palak also recalled the contributions of the people of Chattogram in all movements including the anti-British, anti-Pakistan and restoration of democracy.

Palak said the number of internet users was only 56 lakh 10 years back but it now crossed 10 crore mark.

The state minister also pointed out the country’s massive development in the IT sector in the last 10 years. Income from this sector will reach five billion dollars from the present one billion, he said.

Sources said IT Park is being built on CCC lands in Chandgaon area adjoining BFIDC road and on the 6th to 11th floors of Agrabad Bangkok Singapore Market at a cost of Taka 200 crore.

According to the MoU, CCC and High Tech Park will share 50-50 percent income from the IT Park for initial 30 years next.

The preliminary agreement between CCC and High Tech Park was signed on July 18, 2018.
