SC Bar polls on March 13, 14
DHAKA, March 11, 2019 (BSS) – The two-day polls to elect the office
bearers of Supreme Court (SC) Bar Association for 2019-2020 tenure will be
held on March 13 and 14.
“A total of 33 candidates are taking part in the election against 14
posts,” Supreme Court Bar superintendant Nimesh Chandra Das told BSS.
The election held each year to elect 14 office bearers, of which seven are
secretary posts and seven are for executive members.
Das further said AY Moshiujjaman will conduct the two-day polls as Chief
Election Commissioner.
Voting will start at 10am and will continue till 5pm with one hour recess
in the middle on election days.
Meanwhile, pro-independent White Panel has already finalized their
candidates. It nominated AM Amin Uddin and Abdun Nur Dulal to vie for the
posts of president and general secretary respectively.
AJ Mohammad Ali and AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon are contesting as president and
general secretary respectively from pro-BNP-Jamaat Blue Panel.
