6 gold bars recovered at SAIA

CHATTOGRAM, March 09, 2019 (BSS)- After a lapse of six days customs intelligence and investigation officials recovered six gold bars from the rectum of a passenger by conducting X-ray test in his body at Shah Amanat International Airport this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, the officials recovered the gold bars, weighing 60 gram, from the rectum of one Jamal Uddin, who reached the airport by an Air Arabia flight from Abu Dhabi, said Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Nuruddin Milon.

Customs officials on suspicion conducted the X-ray test on Jamal Uddin at a private clinic in the city and found the gold bars worth about TK 24 lakh.

Earlier, members of Chattogram Metropolitan and district police in separate drives arrested four persons with 700 pieces of gold bars worth about Taka 34 crore from Sonapahar area of Zorargonj thana of the district and CRB area in the city on March 3.
