Farhad appointed as new AMTOB secretary general

DHAKA, March 09, 2019 (BSS) – Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) has appointed Brigadier General S M Farhad (retd) as its new Secretary General.

Farhad, an accomplished leader, policy developer, planner, organizer and executor in the field of information communication and technology and management, is succeeding T I M Nurul Kabir, AMTOB announced here today.

Treasuring 34 years of enriched experience at different capacities with last held position as Director Signals at the Bangladesh Army Headquarters, he previously served as a Director at DGFI and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and developed many policies and Standing Operating Procedures.

AMTOB President Michael Patrick Foley said, “We are very hopeful that Farhad will be able to strengthen the bridge between the mobile network operators and its different stakeholders including the government regulatory bodies,” adding, “It will ultimately benefit the government’s Digital Bangladesh vision and the ongoing development process where ICT and telecom is the key stake.”

General Farhad has won various professional recognitions, including prestigious Sena Parodorshita Podok and Border Guard Bangladesh Medal (the highest award of BGB), and played a vital role in ensuring registration of Pre-activated SIM of all mobile network operators back in 2012.

He joined the Bangladesh Army in 1984 and accomplished various military courses and training in Bangladesh and abroad. He also completed three Masters in the field of Strategic Studies, Military Securities Studies, and Defense Studies.
