Quader can talk as health condition improves further: physicians

DHAKA, Mar 9, 2019 (BSS) – Ailing Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who is undergoing treatment at a Singaporean hospital, talked to his family members and doctors today as his health condition improved further.

“The artificial support to Quader’s respiratory system was removed this morning. His blood pressure now remains normal. His heart and kidneys are working normally and infections are under control,” BSMMU Director Prof Abu Naser Rizvi told a briefing on Quader’s health at Mount Elizabeth Hospital lobby in Singapore, according to a press release.

Quoting Dr Sivathasan Cumaraswamy, cardiothoracic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and senior teammate of the five-member medical board formed for Quader’s treatment, Rizvi said the minister has no neurological problem now.

Obaidul Quader would be shifted to a cabin from the ICU within one or two days once he overcomes his physical weakness, he added.

Earlier, Dr Sivathasan Cumaraswamy apprised Quader’s wife Isratunnesa Quader, his younger brother and Basurhat Pourashava Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore Mostafizur Rahman and Dr Rizvi on the treatment of the ailing minister.
