Razzaque for creating int’l market for poultry business
DHAKA, March 7, 2019 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque today stressed on combined efforts of all and coordinated strategies to develop poultry industry and expand its domestic investment aiming to create international market for poultry business.
“We should work together to find out and coordinate strategies to develop the poultry industry and increase its domestic investment so that newer international markets can be created,” he said at the inaugural session of International Poultry Show-2019 held at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.
The poultry industry has made important contributions to the country’s economic development, he said, adding that the incumbent government will help in the development of this most potential sector to ensure safe poultry meat for sound public health.
He also sought support of both the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors in order to meet the demand for food and nutrition to cope with the ever-increasing population of the country.
Highlighting the women contribution to this end, he said, approximately 40pc women involved in poultry industry are working to boost the rural economy.
Thanks to the poultry industry for making the biggest stride after agriculture to help empower women in rural economy, he added.
“This industry has created the employment opportunities by flourishing small and medium scale businesses,” he added.
The three-day ‘International Poultry Show’, organized by the World’s Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB), is being held in city’s ICCB hall which will conclude on March 9 next.
With WPSA-BB Shamsul Arefin Khaled in the chair, the show was attended by the Director General of Directorate of Fisheries, Dr Hiresh Ranjan Bhowmik, the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department Director General, Dr Nathuram Sarker, WPSA President Professor Dr Ning Yang, WPSA-BB General Secretary Mahbub Hasan and Vice President Yasmin Rahman as special guests.
