Nirmul Committee for complete Bangabandhu’s biography
DHAKA, March 7, 2019 (BSS) – Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee has demanded formation of a committee by the government for writing a complete biography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“The country is going to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu in 2020 but we could not publish a complete biography of the Father of the Nation. We demand formation of a committee comprising historians and researchers on Bangladesh’s Liberation War to script a complete biography of Bangabandhu,” said Nirmul Committee president Shahriar Kabir.
At the same time, the government must take steps to publish such biography of Bangabandhu in 100 languages, he said while speaking at a press conference at the National Press Club here today.
He also said Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Liberation War Affairs can form a joint committee to look after how the birth centenary of Bangabandhu can be celebrated across the world. Expatriate Bangladeshis need to be involved in the birth centenary celebration process of Bangabandhu, he added.
He writings about Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 had played significant role in mobilizing opinion at international arena about the genocide in 2071.
He also demanded inclusion of the history of Liberation in textbooks of general, madrasa and English medium education.
Nirmul Committee leaders Momtaz Latif, Mahbubur Rashid, Captain (retd.) Shahabuddin Ahmed, and Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Medical University (BSMMU), were also present, among others, at the press conference.
