Stocks close week down

DHAKA, Mar 7, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks finished the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 23.37 points down at 5,688.85. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 8.33 points down at 1,990.32 and with 11.60 points down at 1,303.04 respectively.

Out of the 338 issues traded on DSE, 91 gained against 228 losing issues. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 10.60 percent to Taka 595.98 crore and the average trade volume fell by 14.90 percent to 12.51 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up.

The top five gainers of the week were Safko Spinning, Emerald Oil, Rupali Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank and Beach Hatchery.

The major losing issues of the week were Paramount, SAVAREFR, Meghna Condense Milk, Meghna Pet and RAK Ceramics.

The top five turnover leaders were Monno Ceramics, UPGDCL, Premier Bank, BSCCL and Singer BD.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 77.69 points lower at 17,395.80.
