Historic 7th March observed in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, March 7, 2019 (BSS) – Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and
its front organisations observed the historic March 7 in a befitting manner
here today with a vow to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Different socio-cultural organisations and professional bodies also
observed the day through elaborate programmes.

The day’s programmes began with hoisting of national and party flags atop
party office buildings and placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders in the morning.

City unit Awami League Vice-president Shaheen Akhter Rainy and its General
Secretary Dablu Sarker joined the programmes. Other local leaders including
Bazlur Rahman, Muhammad Kamal, Meer Iqbal, Shafiqur Rahman, Dr Sheikh Tabibur
Rahman and Habibur Rahman were present on the occasion.

Marking the day, most of the city offices of the party played the historic
7th March speech of Bangabandhu throughout the day alongside holding
discussion.

AL city unit held discussion at its office this noon highlighting
significance of the historic speech with its Vice-president Shaheen Akhter
Rainy in the chair. Front ranking leaders of the unit also spoke at the
discussion.

The discussants said that Bangabandhu’s 7th March speech eventually infused
immense strength in people during the War of Liberation to fight to liberate
the country, and his ‘thunderous voice’ still inspires people to rise up
against any injustice and discrimination.

The day remains a ‘red-letter day’ in the history of Bangladesh as
Bangabandhu gave the finest speech of his life disregarding the intimidation
and threats of the Pakistani Army’s tanks, guns and machineguns, and in the
presence of millions.
