10 injured as lift collapses at Dhaka judge court
DHAKA, March 7, 2019 (BSS)-At least 10 people, including four lawyers, were injured as an elevator of the old building of Dhaka District and Sessions’ Judge Court collapsed this morning.
Nine of the injured – Advocate Sohag Khan ,38, Advocate Sultan Ahmed ,38, lift-man Jahangir ,50, Mohammad Sumon ,25, Md Mithun ,30, Shujon Miah ,22, Advocate Ayub Ali ,58, Alamin ,45, and Shamsun Nahar– were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the hospital sources said.
Later, Shamsun Nahar was shifted to orthopedic hospital. Mohammad Sumon and Shujon Miah were given first aid and released, the sources also said.
The old lift collapsed around 9.45am while it was coming down from the fourth floor of the 30-year-old building, Mahmudul Hasan, stationmaster of Fire Service and Civil Defense station at Sadarghat, told BSS.
Meanwhile, a four-member probe led by an additional district judge was formed to investigate the incident.
