JUTE-DAY-OBSERVANCE
National Jute Day-2019 observed
DHAKA, March 6, 2019 (BSS) – The National Jute Day-2019 was observed today throughout the country with a call to use jute goods for regaining the lost glory of the golden fiber.
This year’s slogan was “Golden country of golden fiber (Sonali Asher Sonar Desh), Father of the Nation’s Bangladesh (Jatir Pitar Bangladesh).”
The main function of the day was held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) where a two-day fair of jute goods began to promote jute goods.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the function and called upon all concerned to take effective steps for making the jute sector profitable to sustain the jute industry. She also announced incentives for the private sector to boost production and export of jute and jute goods.
The Ministry of Textiles and Jute organized the function with Minister for Textiles and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi in the chair.
At the function, the prime minister handed over awards to 14 individuals and organisations for their contributions to developing the jute sector.
Other programmes of the day included rallies, discussions and publicity campaign. City streets were decorated with jute goods to create awareness among the people about uses of jute goods.
