COOPERATIVES-BENEFICIARIES
There are 1,74,535 registered cooperatives: Tajul
SANGSAD BHABAN, Mar 6, 2019 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and
Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said there are 174,535 registered
cooperatives with over 6.84 lakh beneficiaries in the country.
“At present, there are 1,74,535 cooperatives in the country. The cooperatives
have created work opportunities for more than 6.84 lakh people,” the minister
said today while responding to a starred question placed by lawmaker Md
Moshiur Rahman Ranga (Rangpur-1) in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury in the chair.
He said some 23,118 registered cooperatives out of the total 1,74,535 are now
involved in loan distribution schemes.
Replying another starred question placed by lawmaker Md Mamunur Rashid Kiron
of Noakhali3, Tajul said his ministry is implementing 25 projects across the
country under the Annual Development Programme of fiscal 2018-19.
