RpCC mayor urges students to maintain hygiene

RANGPUR, Mar 06, 2019 (BSS) – The students should play vital role in maintaining cleanliness at their respective educational institutions, houses and other places in both urban and rural areas for improving environment.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa made the call today at a prize distribution function of an essay competition titled ‘Role of the students in building a clean city’ held at the City Bhaban here as the chief guest.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organised the competition under Charter for Change project to create awareness among students and city dwellers on the necessity of proper waste management for building a clean city.

The chief guest distributed prizes and certificates among 30 winners out of total 600 participating students of Rangpur City Corporation High School, Shalbon City Corporation Girls’ High School and Rangpur Zila School at the function.

Presided over by Chief Executive Officer of Rangpur City Cooptation (RpCC) Akhter Hossain Azad, the participating students of different schools, guardians and teachers, City Councilors, officials and employees of RpCC attended the function.

Deputy Team Leader of the JICA C4C project Taisuke Tokoko, its City Governance Specialist Brozo Kishore Tripura, Superintending Engineer of RpCC Amdad Hossain, its Executive Magistrate Abdul Mannan, students Arifa, Disha and Tanvir, addressed the event.

The chief guest appreciated the initiative of arranging essay competition by JICA C4C project to make students aware of maintaining cleanliness for keeping the air fresh and improving environment to attain sound health that is essential for everyone.

He also urged students, youths, common citizens, government, non-government, social and volunteer organisations and local government bodies for maintaining cleanliness everywhere in the city to reduce the extent of diseases in building a healthier nation.
