Former MP Rana gets bail in double murder case
DHAKA, March 6, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today granted six months
bail to former Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice
SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order, allowing a plea submitted by Rana.
“The High Court has granted Rana bail for six months. We will appeal
against this order with the Appellate Division,” deputy attorney general Dr
Md Bashir Ullah said.
According to the case documents, Jubo League leaders Shamim and Mamun from
Baghil union of Tangail went missing after going to Tangail town on July 16,
2012. Mamun’s father filed a murder case on July 9, 2013.
A couple of accused arrested in the case gave confessional statements
before court, saying, they killed and dumped the bodies of Shamim and Mamun
in river following the order of Rana.
