Trained imams’ role important to build crime-free society

RAJSHAHI, March 6, 2019 (BSS) – Trained imams have a vital role towards
building crime-free society which is crucial for development of the society.

Speakers at a discussion here viewed that imams should come forward to
free the society from social and moral degradation.

They were addressing the certificate giving and closing session of a 45-
day long regular training course of the 967th batch of Imam Training Academy
at its conference hall in the city yesterday.

Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police AKM Hafiz Akter addressed
the session as the chief guest with Deputy Director of the academy Monirul
Islam in the chair.

Divisional Director of Islamic Foundation Habej Ahmed and former deputy
director of the academy Abdur Rouf also spoke on the occasion.

The guests distributed certificates among 98 imams of the training
course coming from nine districts under Rajshahi and two districts under
Khulna divisions.

RMP Commissioner Hafiz Akter said the imams have very much important role
to resist drug-addiction, militancy, terrorism and corruption in the society.

He urged the trained imams to play their responsible role towards
supplementing the country’s present development process side by side with
protecting the social stability.

“We have to forge social resistance against sexual harassment against
women, dowry and multiple marriage for the sake of ensuring women education,
social harmony and family values,” he added.

He said zero tolerance against all sorts of violence and repression
against women are very important for the sake of mainstreaming the womenfolk
everywhere in the society for total welfare of the nation.

RMP Commissioner also said the trained imams should do something against
the crimes as part of their social responsibility.

He urged them to disseminate their knowledge acquired from the training
course among the community people.
