Bangladesh, KSA agree to stop visa trading

DHAKA, Mar 3, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) today agreed to stop visa trading and to work together instead for ensuring ‘safe house’ for Bangladeshi domestic helps working in Saudi Arabia.

The two countries came up with agreement when Bangladesh State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed met Saudi Arabian Deputy Minister of Labor Dr Abdullah Bin Nasser Abuthnain in Riyadh, said a press release issued here.

Bangladesh ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Masi, joint secretaries of expatriates’ welfare ministry Md Fazlul Karim and Md Zahid Hossain were present on the occasion, among others.

During the meeting, they discussed various problems of Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia and possible remedial meaures.

They discussed holding of joint technical meetings four times annually to resolve problems of Bangladeshi workers. They agreed to hold a joint technical meeting before the next Ramadan.

At the meeting, a decision was taken that without proper medical checkup, no Bangladeshi worker can go to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi deputy labour minister assured the Bangladesh state minister of solving the problems of Bangladeshi workers.
