Mahbub appreciates pilots, crew of Biman exposed to hijack threat

DHAKA, March 3, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali has applauded the courage and intelligence of the pilots and crews of a Biman aircraft which was exposed to a hijack threat on Feb 24.

He praised the pilots and the crews, saying “Thank you all for ensuring safe landing of the passengers on that day by tackling the situation with intelligence, courage and sincerity.”

The state minister was addressing a reception programme of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited accorded by The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism held at city’s inter-continental hotel on Saturday.

He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for monitoring the following incident with utmost sincerity and also congratulated the members of the patriotic armed forces for resolving the event without any kind of damage.

Terming plane-travel as a safe medium, civil aviation and tourism secretary Mohibul Haque asked everyone not to be panicked for such isolated incident.

The Managing Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited and Additional Secretaries of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, among others, were present on the occasion.

The Dubai-bound Boeing 737-800 aircraft made an emergency landing at the Chattogram airport at 5:41pm after a youth named Polash Ahmed allegedly attempted to hijack the plane on February 24 last.

He was killed later in an eight-minute operation by military para-commandos.
