BNP is afraid of people: Nasim
DHAKA, Mar 02, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League presidium member and spokesman of 14-party
alliance Mohammed Nasim today said BNP is afraid of people as they are running away
from people after boycotting the vote.
“BNP is afraid of people . . . Due to this they are evading people and staying away
from voting process,” he said while speaking at a condolence meeting of Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust at Jatiya Press Club here this afternoon.
He added: “But the conspiracy of BNP hasn’t yet stopped. BNP has now emerged as a
party of ‘press-briefing and conspirators’ leaving their chairperson in the jail.”
Senior ruling party leader urged the Election Commission (EC) and concerned
administration to stay tough for ensuring upcoming upazila election in a free, fair
and neutral manner.
Alleging that BNP is intriguing plots one after another, Nasim said their deep-
rotted conspiracy centering the next upazila polls will go in vain.
The AL-led 14-party alliance spokesperson called upon the EC and respective
administration to play neutral roles in and strictly monitor the election to ensure a
festive mood.
Urging the elected MPs from the BNP-Oikyafront alliance to join the parliament,
Nasim said, “There is no alternative to come to the parliament for saying something
for the people and to vote in a democratic system. But Awami League never believes in
boycotting polls. It (AL) contested most of the polls ignoring various obstacles and
interventions.”
Former food minister Quamrul Islam and AL leader MA Karim also spoke on the
occasion with M Anisur Rahman in the chair.
