Tajul asks officials to work consensually for port city development

CHATTOGRAM, March 2, 2019 (BSS) – Local government minister Mohammad Tajul Islam, MP today asked all concerned local bodies to work consensually to resolve the water logging problem of the port city.

“Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved necessary budget for development of Chattogram,” he said adding that “development of the port city would be accelerated if all organizations work consensually.”

The minister sad this while exchanging views with the officials of the different local bodies at Circuit House during his first visit to the port.

The minister said the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina never dreamt development of the country without the uplift of the port city.

“Wheels of country’s economy move through Chattogram. So development of the port city is very crucial,” he said adding that “now our main task is to find out the prevailing problems of the port city aimed at resolving those problems within a shortest possible time.”

Tajul Islam said Prime Minister is relentlessly working to complete the unfinished task of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and materialize his dream to build a prosperous Sonar Bangla.

In this the minister praised the efforts of the incumbent mayor of Chittagong AJ M Nasir Uddin hoping that the port city will be turned into a eye-catching city under his leadership.

The minister assured rapid development of the port city saying Prime Minister has a close eye on the development of the port city, and concerned ministries are taking development plans according to her directives.

Deputy Minister for education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Senior Secretary of Local Government SM Golam Faruk, Mayor of Chattogram AJM Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) Abdus Salam also spoke on the occasion while Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan was in the chair.

Additional divisional commissioners Shankor Ranjon Shaha and Nurul Alam Nizami, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ilias Hossain, high officials of CCC, CDA and Chattogram WASA were present.
