DHAKA, March 2, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today sought all-out

cooperation from mass media to stamp out drug abuse, terrorism and militancy.

“People now want to get rid of drug abuse . . . and media should play a very

Noting that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina earlier declared “Zero Tolerance” policy

against two things — militancy-terrorism and drug abuse, he said, adding the media people

are sincerely working with the law enforcement agencies to curb militancy and terrorism.

The home minster termed the existing “Narcotics Control Act” as time-befitting and

said, “We will combat drug abuse as it was possible to curb the militant forces and

terrorism. Everyone is helping us and the media people should play a very responsible role

in this connection.”

Asaduzzaman hoped that the media can play very significant role in different fields.

Mass Media, being imbued with the patriotism, would speak about the home land, progress

and heritages of the Bengali nation, he added.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Relief and

Disaster Management Dr. Enamur Rahman, Sagupta Yasmin Emily, MP, former Secretary General

of Jatiya Party ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Prime Minister’s former Information Adviser Iqbal

Siobhan Chowdhury, Shomoyer Alo Editor Rafiqul Islam Ratan and Publisher of the newspaper
