KHULNA Book FAIR-ENDS
KHULNA, March 2, 2019 (BSS) – The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair organized by
Khulna district administration ended here yesterday (Friday) as the fair committee
extended the fair for a day.
Mayor of Khulna Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the closing ceremony as the chief
guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hossain was in the chair.
Acting Police Commissioner Sarder Rakibul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Khulna
Zila Parishad Md Asaduzzaman attended the function as special guests while assistant
director of Khulna Divisional Public Library Dr Md Ahsan Ullah gave welcome speech.
Fair authorities said over 8,000 books worth about Tk 1.5 crore were sold in the
fair.
Addressing the function KCC mayor laid importance on infusing learning habit among
children to build them up as worthy citizens as there is no alternative to reading
book to make person enlightened.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among winners of different competitions
arranged for school and college students.
The month long book fair drew huge crowd everyday in various events which was
included discussion, musical soiree and cultural programs attended by imminent
personalities, academics, political leaders ad artistes,
