RAJSHAHI, March 1, 2019 (BSS)- The National Voters Day 1st March 2019
was observed in the city and all other districts in Rajshahi division like
other parts of the country today in a befitting manner aims at spreading
awareness among the youth on democracy, election and voting rights.
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner’s Office and Regional Election office
have chalked elaborate programmes marking the day. “Will be Voter, Will Vote”
was the main theme of the day.
A colourful rally was brought out from the regional election office
premises and was ended at Zila Shilpakala Academy where a discussion meeting
was held highlighting significance of the day.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton attended and
addressed the meeting as the chief guest with Additional Divisional
Commissioner Anwar Hossain in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader and social worker Shaheen Akhter
spoke as special guests while Regional Election Officer addressed the meeting
as focal person.
Liton termed the observance of the day as a time-befitting decision of
the government as the basic foundation of the democratic culture and
development remained hidden in the day’s theme.
He also says the spirit of this historic day would get transmitted among
the persons would be responsible for registration of new voters, deletion the
names of dead voters and transfer the voters to desired address.
District and upazila level offices of the EC also observed the day in
all eight districts under Rajshahi division with due manner.
