Ministers mourn death of PIB DG Shah Alamgir

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2019 (BSS) – Cabinet members, including Convener of
Chattagram Hill Tracts Peace Agreement Implementation Committee, today
expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted journalist and
Director General (DG) of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Shah Alamgir.

They in separate condolence messages said Shah Alamgir played a vital role
in establishing rights of journalists alongside pursuing journalism.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal expressed profound shock and prayed for
eternal peace of the departed soul. He also conveyed deep sympathy for the
bereaved family.

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said, “The country has lost a
distinguished personality in the field of journalism. Shah Alamgir’s death is
an irreparable loss to the journalism.”

Convener of Chattagram Hill Tracts Agreement Implementation Committee Abul
Hasnat Abdullah expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted
journalist and DG of PIB Shah Alamgir.

He said his (Shah Alamgir) ideology will remain exemplary for the
journalists.

State Minister for Shipping and Awami League Organising Secretary Khalid
Mahmood Chowdhury also expressed shock at the death of Alamgir.

Recalling Shah Alamgir’s memory, State Minister for Information and
Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said he was a very eminent
personality in media.

“Shah Alamgir will be remembered for his work,” Palak added. Earlier,
Journalist Shah Alamgir passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in
Dhaka this morning at the age of 62.
