Journalist Shah Alamgir’s 3rd janaza held at JPC

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2019 (BSS) – The third namaj-e-janaza of eminent journalist and Director General of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Shah Alamgir was held at Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here at 3pm today.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Awami League (AL) Organising Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry Hasanul Haq Inu, lawmaker Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, AL Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Information Secretary Abdul Malek, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad and Prime Minister’s former Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury attended the janaza. AL Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil was present on the occasion.

Besides, leaders of JPC, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and journalists, PIB colleagues, friends, relatives and admirers joined the funeral prayer, among others.

Earlier, the first namaj-e-janaza of Shah Alamgir was held at his residence in city’s Goran area after Johr prayers. Later, his body was taken to his workplace (PIB) where the second namaj-e-janaja was held.

He will be buried at Uttara Graveyard (sector 12) following his fourth namaj-e-janaja.

Shah Alamgir died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka at 10:10 am today.
