DHAKA, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today urged the BNP leaders not to do ill politics and resort to falsehood over Begum Khaleda Zia’s health.

“A physician and a nurse have been appointed fulltime for Begum Zia. In need, she is given treatment outside the jail,” he said, speaking at a meeting at an auditorium of Jatiya Press Club here.

Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organized the meeting marking the 7th death anniversary of eminent filmmaker, former cultural affairs secretary of Awami League and founder president of BSJ Alamgir Kumkum with eminent cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam in the chair.

Hasan, also the publicity and publication secretary of the ruling party, said BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Rizvi Ahmed, through press conferences, claimed that Begum Zia’s health condition is deteriorating day by day. It seemed that they (Fakhrul and Rizvi) are specialist doctors, he added.

“But, the reality is that a physician and a nurse have been appointed for Begum Zia. Even, the authority concerned allowed her house maid Fhatema to stay with her breaking the jail code. So, I want to urge them not to do bad politic over her health condition,” the minister said.

Hasan said there is no scope to spread confusions among the common people about Begum Zia’s health.

He said the country is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. But there are some people who don’t want to accept the development. And they are spreading falsehood to confuse the common people, he added.

Hasan said once Begum Zia told that it is not possible for Awami League government and its head Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build the Padma Bridge.

“But, now around 70 percent work of the bridge has been completed. And it has been possible only for our leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

The AL leader urged the countrymen to do cultural practices more as it helps grow the students and the young generation culturally and gives no scope to be misguided, particularly to the path of militancy.

Hasan also urged the cultural personalities not to practice alien culture. “Follow the life and works of Alamgir Kumkum,” he advised.

The minister remembered the outstanding contributions of Kumkum in the cultural arena as well as the political field.

AL Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Dhaka South City Unit General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, AL leader Advocate Boloram Poddar, eminent singer Rafiqul Alam, actresses Rozina and Aruna Biswas, among others, addressed the meeting.
