‘Elimination of Discrimination Act’ to be passed in next JS session: Anisul

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Anisul Huq today said the work to formulate Elimination of
Discrimination Act is at its last stage and would be passed in the next
session of Jatiya Sangsad (JS).

“We have passed Digital Security Act and made it effective. Now we will
strengthen cyber tribunal as it is very much essential for effective
implementation of Digital Security Act. We are aware to check misuse of
Digital Security Act as well,” he said.

The law minister said these while addressing the inaugural function of
International Scientific Conference and 22th annual general meeting (AGM) of
Asthma Association Bangladesh (AAB) at Bangabandhu International Conference
Center here in the capital.

Presided over by AAB president Prof Dr Bashir Ahammed, the function was
addressed by Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) president Dr Mostafa Jalal
Mohiuddin, Swadhinota Chikitshok Parishad president Dr M Iqbal Arslan and BMA
acting secretary general Prof Dr Md Kamrul Hasan Milon, among others.

Laying emphasis on checking air pollution in the country, the law
minister said around 10 million people are suffering from asthma here.

“We have to identify the reasons behind this and take appropriate
actions. The kind of development that has been done in health sector under
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was unprecedented. Process is on to appoint ten
thousand doctors. Earlier we have appointed ten thousand doctors and nurses,”
Anisul Huq added.
