India says it shot down Pakistan warplane, lost own jet to Pakistan
NEW DELHI, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS/AFP) – Indian forces shot down a Pakistani
fighter jet but one of its own warplanes was also shot down in air battles on
Wednesday, a foreign ministry spokesman said.
The Pakistani fighter jet was hit as it took part in an operation “to
target military installations on the Indian side”, spokesman Rajeesh Kumar
told a briefing.
“The Pakistani aircraft was seen by ground forces falling from the sky on
the Pakistan side.
“In this engagement, we have unfortunately lost one Mig-21. The pilot is
missing in action. Pakistan has claimed that he is in their custody,” he
added.
