Upazila poll campaign gets momentum in Narsingdi
NARSINGDI, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS) – Upazila poll campaign is getting
momentum in Narsingdi district.
A total of 16 candidates for upazila chairman post, 25 male candidates
for male vice chairman and 17 female candidates for female vice chairman post
have submitted their nomination paper to upazila returning officers in the
ensuing upazila election in Narsingdi district.
In Narsingdi Sadar upazila 3 candidates for chairman post, 3 candidates
for male vice chairman post and 2 women for female vice chairman post
submitted their nomination paper.
Among the three chairman candidates Aftab Uddin Bhuiyan got nomination,
on the other hand Shofar Ali Bhuiyan and Anowar Hossain are contesting as
independent candidates.
In Polash upazilla one for chairman post, one for male vice chairman and
one for female vice chairman post are contesting. The only chairman candidate
is AL nominated and incumbent chairman Sayed Javed Hossain.
In Shibpur upazilla 3 candidates for chairman post, 7 candidates for
male vice chairman post and 4 women for female vice chairman post submitted
their nomination paper.
The three Chairman candidates are AL nominated Harun-or-Rashid
president of Shibpur upazilla Awami League. The two other candidetes are
incumbent chairman Ariful Islam Mirdha and Toffazal Hossain (VP tofazzal).
In Monohardi upazilla 3 candidates for chairman post, 2 candidates for
male vice chairman post and 2 women for female vice chairman post submitted
their nomination paper.
The three chairman candidates are AL nominated and incumbent chairman
Saiful Islam Biru, independent candidate Habibur Raham Rongu and independent
candidate Nazmul Hoque.
In Belabo upazilla 2 candidates for chairman post, 7 candidates for male
vice chairman post and 6 women for female vice chairman post submitted their
nomination paper. The two Chairman candidates are AL nominated Shamser Zaman
Riton and independent candidate Rana Chowdhury.
In Raipura upazilla 4 candidates for chairman post, 5 candidates for
male vice chairman post and 2 women for female vice chairman post submitted
their nomination paper.
The three Chairman candidates are AL nominated and incumbent chairman
Mizanur Rahaman Chowdhury. The other three independent candidates are Abdus
Saddeque, Mahabubur Rahman Shahin and Niaj Morshed Khan Rasel.
According to Election Commission, the Upazilla Parishad election (third
page) in the six upazillas of Narsingdi district will be held on 24 March.
