NBR wants to stop chemical import in old Dhaka address

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2019 (BSS) – National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan today said they want to stop chemical import under old Dhaka address in order to removing the chemical industries from the area.

“If the government will take decision, no chemical will be imported under old Dhaka address. We are discussing with the government in this regard. We hope that the issue will be resolved quickly,” he said.

The NBR chief was speaking as the chief guest at an award giving ceremony at NBR Conference in the city.

NBR awarded 10 business entities for paying the highest Value Added Tax (VAT) in the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF).

Mosharraf said if banks stop the issue of Letter of Credit (LC) in favour of the old Dhaka address and NBR will stop chemical import in this address, the existing chemical industries will be relocated normally.

Commissioner (West) of the Custom Excise and VAT Commissionerate Dr Mynul Khan presided over the function while Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman Bijoy Bhattacharjee, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Senior Vice President Sheikh Fazle Fahim and NBR Member Shanaj Parvin were present at the function.

The business entities are Hatil Complex, Walton Hi Tech Industries, Square Electronics, Rangs Electronics, Butterfly Marketing, RFL Electronics, Fair Electronics, Durable Plastic, Navana Furniture and Rangpur Metal Industries.
