Hom’s record fifty sets up second win for Shinepukur
DHAKA, Feb 26, 2019 (BSS)- Shuvagata Hom blasted 16-ball fifty to become the record-holder for the fastest fifty in T20 cricket among Bangladeshi batsmen as Shinepukur Cricket Club registered a 22-run victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in the Dhaka Premier League T20 held on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur here.
Shuvagata’s innings helped Shinepukur Cricket Club to pile up a huge 192 for four on the board before they restricted Mohammedan Sporting Club to 170 for nine after Shinepukur opted to bat first.
Shuvagata hammered a 10-ball 32 of Shinepukur’s first match against Legends of Rupganj on Monday last but this time he went more aggressive smashing four boundaries and six over boundaries during his unbeaten 18-ball off 58 runs. The last three overs produced 62 runs with batting partner Towhid Hridoy just a spectator at the other end with 41-ball 66.
In reply, Mohammedan lost wickets in regular intervals after a breezy start. Irfan Shukkur’s 29-ball 52 saw them fight back as they finally reached 170 for 9 after 20 overs.
Sohrawordi Shuvo, Hamidul Islam and Sujon Hawlader all took two Mohammedan’s wickets each.
At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah, Gazi Group Cricketers (123 for 4 in 10 overs) defeated Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (96 for 4 in 10 overs) by 27 runs.
At KSOAS, Uttara Sporting Club (110 for 4 in 15.5 overs) beat Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity (109 for 7 in 17 overs) by six wickets in D/L method.
