SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 26, 2019 (BSS) – The Brick Making and Brickfield Establishment (control) Amendment Bill, 2019 was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad in an amended from with a view to bring traditional brickfield in a legal frame and also to encourage using block instead of brick for all sorts of construction purposes.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister M Shahab Uddin today moved the bill in the House which was unanimously passed by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Placing the bill, the minister said the proposed bill will replace the existing ‘Brick Making and Brickfield (control) Act, 2013’which was came into effect on July 1, 2014.
The proposed act will reduce the environment pollution related to the brickfields and protect the necessary top soil of the land for the agriculture, the minister added.
Earlier, the bill was sent to respective parliamentary standing committee on February 10, 2019 for further scrutiny.
