83rd birth anniversary of Bir Shreshtha Nur Mohammad observed

NARAIL, Feb 26, 2019 (BSS) – The 83rd birth anniversary of Bir Shreshtha Nur Mohammad Sheikh was observed in a befitting manner at Nur Mohammad Nagar under Narail Sadar upazila today.

To mark the birth anniversary, Bir Shreshtha Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust and district administration jointly organized various programmes, including holding discussion, giving guard of honor and offering prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Nur Mohammad.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narail and President of Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust Anjuman Ara addressed the discussion as the chief guest at the Nur Mohammad Sheikh Memorial Museum and Library auditorium here.

Chandibarpur Union Parishad Chairman Md Azizur Rahman Bhuyan presided over the discussion while Police Super Md Jashim Uddin, Chief Executive Officer of Narail Zilla Parishad Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Salma Selim, Nur Mohammad’s Son SM Kamruzzaman Kamal and Freedom Fighter Advocate SA Matin addressed the discussion as special guests.

Nur Mohammad was born on February 26 in 1936 at Mahiskhola village under Sadar upazila of the district. Mahiskhola was renamed as Nur Mohammad Nagar showing respect to Bir Shreshtha Nur Mohammad, who embraced martyrdom in a face to face fighting with Pakistani Army in Goalhati area in Jessore district on September 5 during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
