5-storey building tilts at Kamrangirchar, residents evacuated
DHAKA, Feb 25, 2019 (BSS) – A five-storey residential building has been tilted to its north side in the old city’s Kamrangirchar area this afternoon.
“A five-storey building was tilted at Khalifaghat in Kamrangirchar area around 12.44pm today. All the residents of the tilted building and its adjoining establishments have already been evacuated,” director (training) Lt. Col. Siddique Mohammad Julfiqur Rahman of Fire Service and Civil Defence told BSS today.
“The building will definitely collapse. But the good thing is that the building has been tilted to north side where a ditch is situated,” he said, adding that the experts will soon visit the building site.
Connections of electricity and gas to the building and its adjoining areas have already been cut off for the sake of residents, he continued.
