Sweden is the tested friend of Bangladesh: Envoy

RAJSHAHI, Feb 25, 2019 (BSS)- Swedish Ambassador in Bangladesh Charlotta
Schlyter has said her country is the tested friend of Bangladesh and intends
to bolster the relation in the days ahead.

She added that the diplomatic relation between the two countries has
been established following Sweden’s early recognition of the independent
Bangladesh on February 4 in 1972.

The envoy was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a beef fattening
project at Thanapara Swallows Development Society (TSDS), a non-government
development organization, at Charghat Upazila in the district yesterday as
chief guest.

On the occasion, 100 cattle were distributed among the poor families of
the adjacent areas. After an 18-month rearing, the beneficiaries will get 95
percent profit-share of the sale-proceeds and the rest five percent will go
to the project fund. The project will be implemented with financial support
of Sweden.

Swedish Ambassador Charlotta Schlyter said strengthening of people to
people relation is very important. This relation will be strengthened
furthermore through this project from now on.

TSDS Assistant Director Mahmuda Begum, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazmul
Haque, Upazila Agriculture Officer Monzur Rahman, Upazila Livestock Officer
Dr Mizanur Rahman and Sardaha Union Parishad Chairman Hasanuzzaman Madhu,
among others, also spoke on the occasion.
