ACC chief for stopping graft loopholes

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2019 (BSS) – Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said the main objective of the commission is to stop the loopholes of corruption and bribery.

“The officials who don’t perform their duties are also corrupt like those who indulge in corruption and take bribes,” he said, speaking at the inaugural function of a workshop on land management for ACC officials at its office in city’s Segunbagicha.

Mahmud said it is very easy to take bribe in the country because of the existing system. Taking bribes is very easy for those (officials) who have no dignity self-respect, he added.

The anti-graft watchdog chief said 27 institutional teams have been formed to reform the system and to stop corruption and their main objective is to stop the loopholes of corruption and bribe.

“The commission has the power to issue legal directives against any person for any information related to the inquiry or investigation,” Mahmud said.
