PM’s magical expertise behind unprecedented development: Benazir

RANGPUR, Feb 24, 2019 (BSS) – The expertise of Prime Minister (PM)
Sheikh Hasina in running the state is the magic behind unprecedented
development of the country in recent times.

Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed said
this at a discussion organised at headquarters of Rangpur RAB-13 Battalion to
celebrate its fifth anniversary of the Raising Day on Saturday as the chief
guest.

“Bangladesh is speedily running on the highway of development under the
able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We have to maintain this
trend and work together to realise the Visions 2021 and 2041,” he said.

Benazir said the 11th parliamentary election was conducted smoothly as a
result of discharging duties sincerely by all law enforcement agencies,
including RAB, and thanks goes to all the forces.

He said the whole nation had jumped into the struggles for freedom in 1971
under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman.

“The dream for freedom was behind to create an independent country free from
hunger and poverty. Realisation of Bangabandhu’s dream is not far away. A
prosperous Sonar Bangla will be built soon as dreamt by Bangabandhu,” he said

Highly praising activities of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in eliminating
drug from the society, Benazir said operation against drug had started
decisively as per directives of the Prime Minister from March 3 last year.

“The election manifesto of the government pledged to eliminate terrorism,
militancy and drugs from the country. Everyone should work together to
implement this manifesto. The drug must be deported from the country,” he
said.

The RAB Chief said about 70 to 80 lakh people are addicted to drug in
the country. Of them, about 40 lakh people are addicted to Yaba tablets.

“There will be a separate battalion soon for eliminating Yaba. Cases have
been filed against 17 thousand drug traders. Ninety-six drug dealers were
killed in gun battles,” he said.

He urged everyone to come forward to eliminate drug once for all from
the society.

“The new generation will be a rich generation and we cannot allow them to be
destroyed by Yaba,” Benazir added.

Secretary General of Jatiya Party and Chief Whip of the opposition in
the parliament Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Vice-president of Bangladesh Police
Women Welfare Association Mrs. Zishan Mirza, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad
Joynul Bari, Rangpur Range DIG of Bangladesh Police Devdas Bhattacharya, its
Additional DIG Abdul Majid, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, Additional
Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Abu Sufian addressed the
discussion presided over by Commanding Officer of RAB-13 Md. Mozammel Haque.

After the discussion, a pleasant cultural programme was presented on the
occasion.
