Rail links restored after six hours with Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Feb 24, 2019 (BSS)- Railway communication between Rajshahi and
the rest parts of the country has been restored after six-hour interruption
due to derailment of a goods train near Halidagachhi station under Charghat
Upazila in the district today (Sunday).
Shah Newaz, Chief Operational Superintendent of West Zone in Bangladesh
Railway, told BSS that a Rajshahi-bound goods train from Ishwardi derailed
500 yards west side of Halidagachhi station signal around 3 am.
On information, Divisional Engineer Ariful Islam and Senior Assistant
Engineer Ahsanul Haque visited the place of occurrence immediately.
Meanwhile, the derailment caused immense suffering of hundreds of people,
as Dhaka-bound Silk City, Khulna-bound Sagordari Express and Chilahati-bound
Titumir Express trains remained stranded at Rajshahi station.
Later, a relief train from Ishwardi junction rushed to the spot and
salvaged the train making the railway communication normal on the route
around 9 am, added the railway official.
