DHAKA, Feb 23, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member SA Malek today described Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the only leader who transformed a nation into an entity by establishing independent Bangladesh.
He said this while addressing a discussion, organized by Bangabandhu Parishad on the occasion of the ‘Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day’ at the National Press Club auditorium here.
Applauding Bangabandhu, Malek, also the General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad, said as long as the Bengali nation and Bangladesh exist, Bangalees will recall him (Bangabandhu) with due respect from the bottom of the heart.
Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, National University Professor Habibur Rahman, Bangladesh Open University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Mokaddem Hossain, former Bangladesh ambassador to Nepal Dr Nimchandra Bhowmik, Chairman of Political science of Jagannath University (JnU) Arun Kumar Goswami, JnU Hall Provost Prof Dr Asim Sarkar and Rajshahi University Sociology Department Professor Sadekul Arefin also spoke on the occasion.
Highlighting the contribution of the Father of the Nation, DU VC Akhtaruzzaman said Bangabandhu enriched our language by addressing in Bangla for the first time the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 1974 after the independence of Bangladesh.
