Ekushey book fair begins in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Feb 23, 2019 (BSS) – A five-day long Ekushey book fair began
today on Narsingdi Shilpakala Academy premises to pay homage to the 1952
language movement martyrs.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narsingdi Syeda Farhana Kawnine inaugurated
the fair on the Shilpakala Academy premises.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged all to build a habit of reading
books. She said, “Books enlighten the hearts and increase our knowledge
depth. Children should be encouraged to read books on a regular basis.”

The Deputy Commissioner also unveiled a book titled ‘Priyo Mukh’ at the
fair.

This year, the theme of the book fair is ‘Books would be your unique
friend’.

Different institutions and organizations set up a total of 30 stalls in
the fair to display books of different genres.

The district level government officials, teachers, students, youth civil
society members, professionals, elite and journalists were present at the
inaugural function.

Chairman of Narsingdi Zila Parishad Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, Police Super
Miraj Uddin Ahmmed, Civil Surgeon Dr Helal Uddin, former Principal of
Narsingdi Government College Prof Mohammad Ali and President of Sector
Commander forum Abdul Motaleb Pathen, among others, addressed the function.
