National Savings Week begins in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Feb 23, 2019 (BSS) – National Savings Week-2019 has begun in the
district as elsewhere in the country today in a bid to create more awareness
among the people about savings and further enhance the service quality.

This year’s theme of the week is Sanchoy Sammriddhir Sopan.

The aim of holding Savings Week 2019 is to raise the sale of savings tools
and thus build savings mindset among the people, especially among the
students, office sources said.

To mark the week in a befitting manner, District Savings Office (DSO) under
the Directorate of National Savings of the Ministry of Finance has chalked
out elaborate programmes from February 23 to March 01.

The programmes include creating awareness among people, hanging posters and
banners and holding motivational meetings at the government and non
government offices, industries, business establishments and academic
institutions.

On Saturday morning, a grand rally organized by district administration and
DSO was brought out from Independence Square of the town which ended at the
same venue after parading the main streets of the town.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)-Revenue M. Tofael Hossain addressed
the rally as the chief guest and assistant commissioner of district
collectorate building Bir Ameer Hamza was present at the event as the special
guest while assistant director (AD) of DSO M. Abu Bakar Siddique was the
moderator.

Speaking on the occasion ADC-Revenue termed savings as the symbol of self
dependence as it creates a golden future for all irrespective of age.

He urged all to invest more money against different profitable schemes of
the department to get economically profited and increase the investment in
the country.

Later, the ADC Tofael Hossain formally inaugurated the week as the chief
guest.

AD Abu Bakar Siddique in his speech said the schemes on five-year
Bangladesh Sanchaypatra, 3-month profitable base Sanchaypatra, Pensioner
Sanchaypatra and Paribar Sanchaypatra are running here.

A large number of students, teachers, social workers, govt. officials, and
journalists of print and electronic media including the daily observer took
part in the rally spontaneously.
